The iDenture has been designed to provide the best alternative to dental implants for patients who have no remaining teeth. The design and concept was pioneered by Dr Jiro Abe, a Professor at Tokyo University and Specialist. This denture is a “suction” type denture. Dr Abe teaches this method around the world and John Wedgwood of Elite Dentures has been trained in production of these dentures. They have the highest level of fit and suction onto the gums for full denture users. This aims to create a denture that fits so tightly they provide a realistic and affordable alternative to implants.
What is an iDenture?
Denture production hasn’t had any large innovations over the past 50 years until the iDenture technique was developed. The iDenture uses only the finest materials, most advanced impression taking procedure and bite registration techniques in order to replicate your smile as true to nature as possible. An emphasis is placed on function, fit and aesthetics. Your bite will be transformed to a time before you lost your teeth, improving your ability to eat, smile and talk.

iDenture vs Implant Retained Denture
An implant retained denture utilises a number of dental implants placed in the mouth to support and retain a denture. This represents the ultimate solution for some patients but is not a viable option for others.
Advantages of Implant Retained Dentures
– Superior fit and stability
– As close to natural teeth as you can get.
Disadvantages of Implant Retained Dentures
– Surgery required which may take some time to recover from
– High cost
– Not suitable for all patients as there may not be sufficient jaw bone
Advantages of iDenture
– Suction fit for stability and retention
– Significantly lower cost than an implant retained denture
– No surgery required
– Suitable for all patients without teeth
Disadvantages of iDenture
– Some patients do not wish to wear a denture

Meet the iDenture team…
John Wedgwood
I qualified as a dental technician in 2001 and went on to further my career at the Royal College of Edinburgh where I later qualified as a clinical dental technician. Being a dental laboratory owner for the past 11 years and working in the dental field for 22 years has given me a broad experience. I am passionate about excellent dental impressions and high quality dentures; I have invested in the most innovative technology to create various levels of replacement teeth. I also work closely with implantologists restoring implants and offering permanent fixed solutions to missing teeth. I find nothing more satisfying than restoring a patients smile and function with the highest quality prosthodontics.
